5/29/2012- Charlotte's Web By: E. B. White- Book
We just finished reading this as a family.  It was the first chapter book we've read together.  Jeremiah loved it!!  He loved it so much he just assumed we would turn around and start reading it again.  He had so much enthusiasm for the book that we did read it again.  Shortly after reading it, I was wrapping a present for him to give to one of his friends at a birthday party.  The present was a book and Jeremiah said, "We're giving him a book?  That's boring."  I was able to respond with "Did you think Charlotte's Web was boring?"  His response, of course was, "No."

I asked John if he thought we should get the movie and watch it toegther.  John said he thought it would ruin the book, because of how much Jeremiah loved it.  So we have not watched the movie, and the book remains in his mind an amazing story of friendship and love.

5/5/2012- The Help- Book
What an amazing story!  I loved reading from different characters points of view.  I find it interesting that Hilly, Elizabeth, Celia, and Skeeter, all have hired help yet they all seem to have varying levels of discrimination.  I wanted to punch Hilly in the face, more then once, but mostly when she made the comment of you wouldn't want a nigra sitting next to your kids at school, would ya?  How is that not ok, but having a "nigra" raise and care for your children is ok?  I find the double standard hard to swallow, and at the same time, that is exactly how they lived!

It was a very well written and grabbing book, about a time and place that is ironically very foreign to me. I highly recommend it!

 4/7/2012- The Hunger Games- Movie
Just got back from watching The Hunger Games.  I thought they did a really good job with the movie!  I enjoyed it, except for the fact that it followed the book so well, combined with the length, I kind of started to get bored.  The movie was done very well though, I did enjoy watching such an amazing book brought to life!

 4/6/2012- The Hunger Games- Book
I have enjoyed reading the hunger games!  It is a good clean, easy read.  It has a thought provoking plot that includes moral dilema's, communism, romantic issues.  I highly recommend it!  My husband and I are finally going to get ourselves to the theater to see it this weekend.  I can't wait!  I will write more about the movie and what I thought of it later this week....
